This is going to be a long post, you have been warned.
I started playing World of Warcraft almost a decade ago. Couple of real life friends were playing and they insisted i try, and so i did. My first character was a Draenai Priest, i cannot for the life of me remember what her name was but she was deleted shortly after a quest at Duskwood. I could not keep myself alive, and at the time, i just didn't understand what I was meant to be doing. (Those were my noob alliance days) Yes, i have since gone to the dark side and my mains are Horde.
So, on the first day my friends gave me 10 gold, and told me to spend it wisely. I was rich! But i had so many questions. What was i meant to be spending on? What can gold buy me in this game?
Riding. Bags. See. 10 gold was not going to get me those two things. Netherweave bags cost 8G each, this was during Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I couldn't afford bags! I was literally running around looking for a 'repair' guy in town so i could vendor stuff constantly. If i couldn't find a vendor, i basically had to throw things out of my tiny bags.
It was on my second character, (i made a new one, a Paladin after the unfortunate death of my Priest) that i learned about Druids. I was questing at Stranglethorn Vale when something flew over me. I looked up and saw a bird. A bird that had a friendly name plate. I was like, what the?
That, was my first encounter with a Druid. Mind you, at level 30, i was still running around without a mount, cause, no gold.
Anywho, i ran after the Druid i saw as fast as i could just to see what they were doing. Herbing! Literally, swooping in to gather and swoosh, off they went. I wanted a Druid! I wanted one real bad! So i made one. And this, is how Owl my Druid was born.
You see. Leveling the druid was just so much fun compared to the other classes i had tried. Perhaps a large part of that is due to the fact that i had picked up double gathering on him. I was able to level and gather herbs and ore at the same time and the XP gains were awesome! I sold all the herbs and ore i had in my bags, and was able to earn enough to get riding and flying for myself by level 60. If you have never flown on a druid, you are totally missing out. Instant flight form? YES!
My druid remains as my ultimate farmer till today. Had i stayed as Alliance, i would have Shadow meld as a racial for Night Elves, which takes me out of combat. For Horde, i would recommend going Tauren for farmer characters. Quicker herb gathering. So for a 110 Druid double gatherer, i would recommend getting Legion Mining enchant for your gloves as you already have reduced herbing speed.
Since 7.2 and flying, i've been having a ball farming again. Prices have tanked as i mentioned in my previous post, but gathering my own materials once a week to provide for my goods to sell on reset day for pure profit is rather satisfying. i might be one of the rare few players that actually enjoy farming.
Here is a video to show you how convenient it is.
If you're struggling with gold, i highly recommend a gatherer. You can sell your produce raw on the Auction House, or go the shuffling route, but that will be for another post.
PS. I was able to get myself gold capped on 5 characters during Wrath with this Druid :)
